We left Chris and Sicamous today and started heading for the US Border via the Kootenay Rockies. The ride provided some of the best (twisty) roads we have encountered so far and included a couple of free ferry trips across the lakes into the bargain.
We stopped at a town called Nakusp for lunch. The coffee and cakes were good and our view was of the local church and fire station was colourful.
Like most of our journey through Canada it is a big, unspoilt country where some of the roads can be very interesting.
Often, even when on the main highways we can ride for 20 minutes or more without seeing another vehicle and there can be 100 miles between towns. Many of the locals haven’t been to the next town for a year or more.
That may go someway to explaining this bunch although I‘m not so sure. They thought they were perfectly normal. I put it down to isolation and inbreeding. There's an uncanny likeness to the 118 118 adverts?
We stopped for the night about 15 minutes from the border at Creston, ready to do battle with US Customs in the morning.
