Loreta to La Paz

Wed 3rd August

Up to now you’ve been spared the sunrise pictures because we're usually still in the land of zzzzzz's............

View from Loreto beach.

.........this morning, however, Bob had us up at six so that we could set off for La Paz before it got too hot. He keeps complaining about the sun and the amount of factor 50 he's using so we thought about clubbing together and buying him a Burka. In his defence, it is very hot and humid and even the locals are complaining.

The journey again today was flat, featureless, straight and getting just a little boring. Would we recommend the Baja Peninsular for a motorcycle trip. If you are off roading it has a lot to offer but if like us you stick mainly to the paved roads then probably not.

We picked our hotel out of the Lonely Planet guide today and as you can see the boys gave it the thumbs up (Hotel Posada Luna Sol).

I’m sure the engine is supposed to be here somewhere!.

This afternoon Terry’s bike was given some attention, tappets and a slight oil leak from the bevel box. The bad boy hadn’t checked his engine oil for a while either as it required the best part of a litre.

Jogging along La Paz seafront.

La Paz is a buzzing sea side city. All the locals appear in the evening when it is cooler and cycle, jog, roller blade or just walk up and down the seafront socialising.

La Paz at night

As we soaked up the atmosphere we felt we were on holiday rather than just travelling. We will be here a couple of nights, as tomorrow we set about sorting out vehicle permits and ferry tickets to Topolobampo.
