Yellowstone to Debois

Sunday 5th June

We spent all day today in Yellowstone National Park but only managed a small part of it. We searched high and low for Yogi , Boo Boo or one of their ancestors but without successs, so you will have to put up with a few pictures of Bison and us (again..).

Not a particularly friendly looking welcome

Some of you will have already been to the park on your travels, so these photos or similar will probably be languishing in your collections somewhere. None of us have been here before and we were enthralled, so you‘ll just have to put up with our attempt to capture the magic of the place.

We were stoppping every few minutes to grab a picture. The obligatory group shot was taken by a another friendly tourist....

The colours and landscape around the hot springs provided some of the most interesting photo opportunities......

Craig and I enjoying the sights

Bubbling hot springs.......

colourful lakes......

and more great scenery....

Some Bison enjoying the sun and views...

Star attraction at Yellowstone is ‘Old Faithful’ a geyser that erupts quite spectacularly every 90 minutes (ish)......

It kept us waiting but eventually produced the goods.....

We arrived very early in the season when it was supposedly quiet. As you can see there are still lots of people about. I think it would be one long traffic jam in peak season (July-August)

There was still lots of snow about and many of the lakes still frozen....

We had hoped to leave the park via the East entrance and head towards Cody but it was still closed with snow, so we left by the Southern entrance and worked our way around.

On leaving Yellowstone we rode straight into the 'Grand Teton National Park' which is just as spectacular especially with the snow still about.

The view from where we stopped for coffee on Jackson Lake

After having left Yellowstone on Highway Highway 287 we went East on the Highway 26. We stopped for the night at Debois and are now in the State of Wyoming.
